Four members of a family from Nagpur in Maharashtra were killed and three others were seriously injured when an SUV and a speeding truck collided near Pandhurna in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district on Sunday.

The family members were returning from Bhilwara in Rajasthan. The deceased have been identified as Byabai Nandanwar (56), her son Mahesh Nandanvar (29), daughter Archana Khapre (33) and Pramod Dharmik (22).

A police officer said that all were residents of Panchpauli area of ​​Nagpur. According to the police, the Nandanwar family was returning from Bhilwara where they had gone to get cancer treatment for their son-in-law Ganesh Khapre.

The accident happened at Mohi Ghat on Bhopal-Nagpur highway in the early hours of Sunday. Three people seriously injured have been sent to Nagpur, the official said.

After the accident, the truck driver fled with the vehicle.

A case has been registered and further action is being taken.
