Local media reported that a spying attempt on former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was foiled when an employee at Khan’s residence was trying to install a spying device in his room.

Citing sources, Pakistan’s local media outlet ARY News reported that an employee of the Bani Gala was paid to install a device in the former prime minister’s bedroom. However, the spying attempt was foiled after another employee informed the security team about the installation of the device.

The Bani Gala security team took the employee into custody and handed him over to the federal police.

The development comes amid rumors of a conspiracy to assassinate the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman. Earlier, in view of this perceived threat, security agencies were put on high alert in the areas around Bani Gala of the city.

Many people in PTI are claiming that Imran Khan’s life is in danger. PTI leader Shahbaz Gill said, “We have informed all the agencies concerned including the government in this regard.

Speaking to the media portal, Shehbaz Gill claimed, “A worker cleaning the room of the former premier was paid to install an espionage device,” terming the act ‘heinous and unfortunate’.

“Our people are being threatened to get information. Such shameful acts should be avoided,” he said. The PTI leader further said that the ‘arrested’ employee had made several revelations which he refused to share for the time being.
