Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey, who is in the clutches of the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case, has not got relief from the court. He was produced in the court again on Wednesday after his judicial custody ended. Lawyers also argued, but the court after hearing both the sides again extended Honey’s judicial custody. The court has again extended his judicial custody by fourteen days and sent him to jail till April 20.

Let us inform that on April 2, the Enforcement Directorate had also filed a charge sheet against Bhupinder Singh Honey, nephew of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. That charge sheet was also to be debated on Wednesday, but there has been no discussion on that in the court yet. Earlier this case was in the court of Judge Daljit Singh Chahal, but on Wednesday, Bhupinder Singh’s appearance took place in the court of new judge Rupinder Singh Chahal. Honey’s lawyer Gurjit Singh Kahlon told that he has been sent to judicial custody till 20th. He said he would file an application for bail after arguing the chargesheet.

In the chargesheet, the ED has written that during the custody Bhupinder Singh Honey himself has admitted that he had taken ten crore rupees from the people associated with the mining mafia in lieu of posting and transfers of the officials concerned. This money was found at the houses of Honey and his business partner Kudratdeep Singh. However, when Bhupinder Singh Honey’s lawyer was contacted about this, he refused to divulge anything.

It is noteworthy that the Enforcement Directorate had twice taken remand of Bhupinder Singh Honey from the court for questioning after his arrest in the money laundering case. After the remand, the ED had claimed that Honey has also acquired property worth crores of rupees by taking advantage of the post of Chief Minister of his relative. For the third time, the ED again argued for remand, many more people are involved in this case and they have to be traced. So the remand should be extended. But the court had refused to extend the remand for the third time.
