Congress discord in Punjab has intensified again. For the first time, former CM Charanjit Channi has given an answer to Navjot Sidhu. Channi said that I was the Chief Minister. In the end, my head was tied to Sehra (CM face). In this sense, the responsibility of defeat is mine. However, Channi asked in gestures that what is the head and his responsibility? I will not speak on this. Channi’s statement is on Sidhu’s words, in which he held Channi responsible for the defeat.

The Congress had played bets on Charanjit Channi in the Punjab elections. First, ignoring Sunil Jakhar, Sukhjinder Randhawa and Navjot Sidhu, made Channi the CM. Then contested the election on his 111 days of work. Channi was made the CM face. Congress strategists felt that 32% SC vote of Punjab would unilaterally come to their account. However, the Congress was badly beaten. Channi himself was defeated by Bhadaur and Chamkaur Sahib. Congress got only 18 seats as against 77 in 2017.
Sidhu sitting at home for not making CM face
Navjot Sidhu wanted to be the CM face in the 2022 Punjab elections. For this, Sidhu even prepared the Punjab model. However, the Congress strategists could not understand the mood of Punjab. He got involved in cast politics. Sidhu was not made the CM face. Angry Sidhu sat down at home. Despite being the head, he did not go anywhere for campaigning. Sidhu himself lost his Amritsar East seat. After this Sonia Gandhi took his resignation. Sidhu, however, said Channi was responsible for the defeat as the election was fought under his leadership.
