Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is stepping down as a Member of Parliament with immediate effect, triggering a by-election in his marginal seat.
Johnson is fighting for his political future with a parliamentary inquiry into whether he misled the House of Commons when he said all COVID-19 rules had been followed.
Johnson said in a statement, “It is very sad to be leaving Parliament – at least for now.” “I am being coerced by a handful of people, have no evidence to support their claims, and leave the wider electorate without the approval of even Conservative Party members.”
