Gadag: National Level cross country runner 47-year-old Basavaraj Ingalagi died here on Monday cardiac arrest.
Inglagi was working in the engineering section in Gadag of South Western Railway. He won a gold medal in the All India Inter-University Cross Country Race two decades ago. He was selected for India’s trials team for the 25th IAAF World Cross Country Championships to be held in Torino, Italy, but withdrew due to lack of information. He has proved his abilities in many inter-university level tournaments.
He also guided many athletes from Gadag district.
Ingalagi is survived by his wife, two daughters and mother. His last rites were performed on Tuesday at his ancestral residence Shirhatti.
