Foreign portfolio investors have invested Rs 5,001 crore in Indian equities so far in August.

According to NSDL data, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have made a net investment of Rs 5,001 crore in Indian equities so far in August. FPIs have bounced back after net outflow of Rs 11,308 crore in July.

With the investment in August, the net FPI investment in the equity segment now stands at Rs 54,037 crore in 2021.

During the week ended Friday, the Indian stock market touched new highs with the BSE Sensex crossing the 56,000 level.

On Wednesday, the Sensex touched an all-time high of 56,118.57 points. However, profit-booking and global cues weakened the market in the subsequent trading week.

Shrikant Chauhan, Executive Vice President, Equity Technical Research at Kotak Securities, said: “FPIs have been net buyers in Indian equities so far in August 2021. FPI inflows are expected to be volatile, suggesting an increase in the minutes of the FOMC meeting. “

“The tapering is expected to have a significant impact on global equity markets,” he said.
