Forces have achieved immense success in controlling terrorism in J&K: Amit Shah on CRPF Raising Day

new Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved after Narendra Modi took over as the country’s prime minister, with security forces achieving a major success in controlling terrorism.

Shah said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India in 2014.

“The biggest achievement in Jammu and Kashmir is the immense success of our forces in controlling terrorism in the state,” he said while addressing the 83rd Raising Day function of CRPF in Jammu.

The Home Minister said that the CRPF has since long worked to provide a “sense of security and security” to the people in India.

“The CRPF jawans have given a sigh of relief to the people trapped in difficult circumstances in the country,” he said.

Shah also lauded the CRPF for playing a vital role in holding the elections, which he described as a “festival of democracy” peacefully across the country.

“Elections are the festival of democracy and fair elections are the soul of a democratic country,” Shah said.

“Whenever Lok Sabha or Assembly elections are held in India, CRPF plays an important role in conducting elections in a peaceful manner across the country,” he said.

This is the first time that CRPF is celebrating its Raising Day outside the national capital.

CRPF Raising Day is celebrated on 19 March after India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel presented colors to the CRPF after the enactment of the CRPF Act by the Parliament in 1950.

The CRPF was established in 1939 and was then known as the Crown Representatives Police.

The CRPF was raised as the Crown Representatives Police on this day in 1939.

The force was given a new life soon after independence, when it was renamed as the Central Reserve Police on December 28, 1949, and was mandated to secure the internal security of the country.
