They play on roadsides and live in highly polluted areas, they inhale toxic air or wreak havoc on their immature lungs due to fine particles. But then they are at an age when the wicked ways of the world or the disadvantages of living in some of the world’s most polluted cities have not yet entered into their young minds. Some are street kids in Nizamuddin, one of the capital’s most congested and polluted areas. Due to the closure of educational institutions due to increasing pollution, these children are not able to go to school. And yet they spend their waking hours outside, as the killer wind swirls about them. The irony could not have been more harsh.
