‘For Every Lesson, Every Smack on my Head, I Want to Thank You’: Virat Kohli Pens Heartfelt Note for Coach Rajkumar Sharma

Virat Kohli is a big fan of his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma and keeps acknowledging him in public forums

Virat Kohli is one of the finest batsmen to have played the game, having found success in all three formats. Some have even called him the best batsman across formats considering his sheer consistency.

Kohli may have reached the pinnacle of greatness, but the talismanic batsman has not forgotten his roots.

The former Indian skipper, who is currently busy with IPL 2023, has expressed his gratitude towards his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma through a heartfelt Instagram post.

Kohli shared an adorable picture with his coach and penned a touching note for Sharma.

The 2011 ODI World Cup winner thanked his coach for believing in him from the start.

The 34-year-old wrote, “For some people, sport always comes second, so I think it is very important to celebrate the people who believed in you from day one. I will be forever grateful Rajkumar sir, Who has not only been a coach to me but also a mentor who has supported me throughout my journey.I was just a boy who dared to dream but it was your belief that helped me wear the Indian jersey 15 years ago For every advice, for every batting lesson, for every smack on my head, for every pat on my back and for making my dream your own, I want to thank you.

Fans and followers showered their praises on Kohli’s post and praised him for staying down-to-earth.

A fan wrote, ‘Great picture with the best coach. God’s and your coach’s blessings will always be with you.”

Another fan commented, “Hats off to your coach, who made a normal boy from Delhi the king of cricket.”

“The king and the kingmaker,” read one comment.

Kohli’s bond with his childhood coach Rajkumar is not hidden from anyone.

Last week, Kohli showed his humility by meeting coach Rajkumar during an IPL match between RCB and DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The meet-and-greet was caught on camera in which Kohli can be seen taking his coach’s blessings by touching his feet.

Kohli will be aiming to contribute heavily with the bat in RCB’s next match. The 2016 finalists will take on Rajasthan Royals in a must-win match on 14 May.
