Many parts of the country are facing floods these days. Somewhere light, some heavy rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says that parts of eastern Himalayas may receive heavy rains for the next 4-5 days. These include West Bengal, Sikkim and other states of the Northeast. Along with this, light to heavy rains are also likely in some parts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.

The eastern end of the monsoon has shifted closer to the foothills of the Himalayas and the western end remains north of normal conditions. The department said that the monsoon trough is likely to shift closer to the foothills of the Himalayas in the next 24 to 48 hours. Also, there is a cyclonic circulation over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, due to which there is a possibility of rain.

8 lakh hectares of crops destroyed due to floods in 5 states
This time the water inundation wreaked havoc in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Himachal. In these 5 states, more than 8 lakh hectares of Kharif crops were destroyed due to floods. In rural areas, 8,169 roads were damaged and over 12 bridges and culverts were destroyed. About 5.50 lakh people from these 5 states have been shifted to safer places.

46 thousand people were taken to a safe place in 3 districts of MP

Estimates of 11 thousand crore rupees due to floods in Maharashtra
In Maharashtra, 21 districts were affected by floods and 4.35 lakh people were evacuated. The state has assessed a loss of Rs 11 thousand crore and Himachal Rs 758 crore, while the remaining three states (Bihar, Rajasthan, MP) are yet to do the assessment.

17 lakh population of 13 districts of Bihar affected by floods
In Bihar’s 13 districts Gopalganj, East Champaran, West Champaran, Saran, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Madhubani, Khagaria, Patna and Nalanda, a population of 17 lakh has been affected by the floods. Here 1 lakh 10 thousand people have been taken to a safe place from the flood affected areas.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in 10 districts of Bihar on 9 August. A yellow alert has been issued that there will be heavy rain at one or two places in Kishanganj, Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Katihar and Purnia districts.

Heavy rain expected in parts of western UP
IMD said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in some parts of western UP in the next 24 hours. At the same time, some areas of Purvanchal and western region received normal rain or thundershowers. During this, maximum 6 cm of rain was recorded in Mehrauni of Lalitpur. Apart from this, Trimohinighat in Maharajganj, 5-5 cm in Kheri’s Nighasan, Mathura’s Mant, Meerut, Vrindavan recorded 4-4 cm of rain.

Light rain in Delhi-NCR
It rained at many places in the capital Delhi on Sunday, giving some relief to the people from the heat. Light rain is expected here today as well. The Meteorological Department said that in the next 2 hours, light to moderate rain will be seen in Delhi-NCR. At the same time, there may be drizzle in Sonipat, Jhajjar and Kharkhoda of Haryana.
