Opposition vs BJP in Lok Sabha 2024: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with his deputy Tejashwi Yadav met West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Howrah on Monday and later met Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow. BJP has to be defeated in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In Lucknow, Nitish Kumar said efforts were on to forge unity among opposition parties to oust the “anti-people BJP” in the Lok Sabha elections next year. Earlier during the day, Mamata Banerjee said that she wanted the BJP to be zero and have no personal ego. In his efforts to unite the opposition, Nitish Kumar had earlier this month met the top Congress leadership in Delhi, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.

They (BJP) want to change the history of India. They should know history. They are not doing any work, just doing propaganda. Nitish Kumar said that we are going to mobilize most of the opposition parties in the alliance and will contest the upcoming elections.
- Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of price rise and said that the BJP government needs to be removed immediately.
- BJP is constantly trying to destroy the democratic values of the country. We all are here with the people of India to save the country from unemployment, inflation and poverty. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav said that we want the BJP government to come out so that the country can be saved.

Whatever happens next, will be done in the interest of the country. Those who are ruling now have nothing to do. They are just promoting themselves. Nothing is being done for the development of the country, said Nitish Kumar during his meeting with Mamata Banerjee.
- During the meeting with Nitish Kumar in Howrah, Mamta Banerjee said, ‘I have made only one request to Nitish Kumar. Jayaprakash ji’s movement started from Bihar. If an all-party meeting is held in Bihar, then we can decide where to go next. But first we have to send the message that we are united. I have said earlier also that I have no objection. I want BJP to become zero. He has become a bigger hero with media support and lies.
- We will move forward together. We have no individual ego, we want to work together collectively, want BJP to become zero…, Mamata Banerjee said.
- Responding to opposition leaders’ struggle to unite before 2024, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said, “Is Nitish Kumar doing anything for Bihar as chief minister? He met Mamata Banerjee. Banerjee met Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal met Sharad Pawar.” The opposition can continue this series of meetings. But who is the leader of the opposition? What are its policies? What are you thinking for the country? There is no discussion on this. If the opposition wants to fight the 2024 elections only with their basic mantra of “Modi Hatao” then naturally they will not get the support of the public.
- The country is emerging as an economic superpower and at such a time, the opposition has neither a leader nor an intention or policy. Why would the public support him, asked Amit Malviya.
- The BJP termed the meeting as a “futile exercise” and asserted that such an “opportunistic alliance” would not yield any results.
