The first look of megastar Mammootty’s investigative thriller Kannur Squad was unveiled on Sunday, putting to rest all speculations about its title. It is the directorial debut of cinematographer Robbie Varghese Raj. The actor on Sunday released the first poster of the film on Twitter, in which he can be seen sporting a serious look. He tweeted, “Presenting the first look poster of the Kannur squad!”

Ever since the tweet was posted, friends and fans have gone frenzy with excitement and anticipation for the film’s release. Here’s how Twitter users reacted:
Casting director Parag Mehta wrote, “My first South film that too with Mammootty sir! Can’t contain my excitement! Thank you Sunil Singh sir and Robbie Varghese sir.”
Commenting on the look, a user wrote, ‘Serious and stylish look is the perfect blend for Mammootty.’

The shooting of the film started a few days ago and some of the major locations of the film are- Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad, Ernakulam, Trivandrum, Pala, Pune, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Mangaluru and Coimbatore.
Kannur Squad is written by Ronnie David and Muhammad Shafi. The film will be produced under Mammootty’s production banner Mammootty Company and will be his fourth venture after films such as Nanpakal Neerathu Mayakkam, Rorschach, and Kaathal – The Core. Actor Dulquer Salmaan’s production house Wayfarer Films will distribute the film in Kerala. As of now, details about the cast of the film have been kept under wraps.
Mammootty was last seen in Christopher by B Unnikrishnan. He will next be seen in a Telugu film titled Agent. It will star Akhil Akkineni in the lead role.
