India failed to capitalize on a 3–1 lead in the third quarter and allowed New Zealand to score twice in regulation time to end the match 3–3.

India suffered a crushing defeat in the penalty shoot-out against New Zealand in the crossover match played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. In the first crossover match of the day, Spain beat Malaysia 4–3 in a penalty shootout to qualify for the quarter-finals after the two sides were tied 2–2 in regulation time.

Spain will take on title contenders and Pool A toppers Australia in the last eight stage on Tuesday.
