Fertilizer shortage crisis continues in Lalitpur Kanpur News – Times of India

Jhansi: Due to acute shortage of DAP and urea since a week, crisis like situation is arising in Lalitpur district and thousands of farmers are waiting in long queues in different blocks for hours. Fertilizer Bag. Some farmers also blocked the highway.
Angry farmers are seen behaving in different ways with the police and administration. On Monday, hundreds of farmers tried to stop the manure truck on its way to some other destination and tried to download the truck on the spot.
The police swung into action with some administrative officials present there and somehow pacified the farmers and persuaded the truck to leave.
In a video that went viral on Sunday, Narhat, an elderly farmer, was seen slapping a police inspector during an agitation by hundreds of farmers. Later, after the intervention of senior officials, the matter was settled. Similarly in Madavra, the police had to resort to mild lathi-charge on a group of agitating farmers, injuring some. After this the situation was brought under control.
Thousands of farmers in different parts of Bundelkhand have been waiting for hours for more than a week to get DAP and urea for sowing. On Friday, a 52-year-old farmer of village Nayagaon died of a heart attack while standing in front of various shops to take manure.
There has been a sudden surge in demand due to good rains in the region a week ago, which has led to suspension of sowing activity in the fields, for which DAP and urea are required. Farmers are mainly in a hurry so that they can sow the seeds before the ground dries up. This will prevent them from spending money on pre-sowing irrigation of fields.
According to DM Lalitpur, Unnavi Dinesh Kumar, more manure rakes are expected in the next few days which will help normalize the situation.
