The Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting of officials on Sunday evening, in which the availability and demand for DAP fertilizers was discussed. “There will be no shortage of DAP fertilizers in the state,” he said after the meeting. The state government claims that more manure is available in the market this year than last year. Nevertheless, the government says that in view of the demand of the farmers, the CM spoke to the Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on the phone on Sunday to increase the number of additional six rakes, to which the Union Minister agreed.

Appealing to the farmers to be patient, Khattar said that at present 24 rakes of DAP fertilizers are available for the farmers of the state and five more rakes will be received. A total of 11 more rakes will be available with the state by October 31 after the Chief Minister gets six additional rakes after talks with the Union Minister. In order to stop black marketing of DAP from Haryana to other states, the CM has also directed to take strict action on the borders of the state. In order to keep a close watch on the situation arising out of the demand of DAP, the CM has appointed administrative secretaries of six districts in-charge with immediate effect. He will be present in the respective districts from 25 to 27 October and will oversee the DAP distribution.

The Chief Minister directed the officers that the DAP fertilizers should be distributed to the farmers who have registered for Rabi crops on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal so that DAP is made available to the genuine farmers in time.

While directing the officers to ensure the supply of DAP as per the demand, the Chief Minister said that the area where farmers need DAP first, should be supplied first. He said that while 87 thousand metric tonnes of manure was sold in the state till October 24 last year, so far this year 98,000 metric tonnes have been sold. Khattar has appealed to the farmers to buy DAP only as per the requirement and not to store more so that it can be distributed evenly.
