Farmers’ strike at the Mini Secretariat in Karnal, Haryana continues for the third day. More than 1000 farmers are standing at the protest site and the process of people coming is going on. The administration has installed CCTV cameras around the picket site to keep an eye, so that all the activities can be monitored while sitting inside. At the same time, internet and SMS service has been stopped till 12 midnight on Thursday. The protesters are demanding suspension of IAS Ayush Sinha, who ordered the beheading of farmers on the day of lathi charge at Bastara toll. At the same time, the farmers have taken the decision of Mahapanchayat on September 11.

If the administration is not accepted, then the Mahapanchayat on 11
BKU leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni said that the farmer leaders went to the meeting on repeated calls from the administration, but did not get a satisfactory reply even once from the officials. Farmers are still ready for talks every time they call. If the administration does not suspend the SDM, then on September 11, all the organizations of the state and the Mahapanchayat of the United Kisan Morcha will organize the district secretariat at the protest site.

DC said – farmers leave dogma

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav has appealed to the farmers to give up dogma and cooperate in finding a solution through dialogue. In the matter of action against the then SDM Ayush Sinha, the DC said that the investigation of the matter can be done only on the orders of the Chief Secretary, appropriate action will be taken after receiving the report. If farmers want to participate in the investigation process, they are welcomed. If farmers want to get the matter investigated at some other level, then their demand can also be considered.

Earlier on Thursday, all the offices of the Secretariat were opened for the work of the common people. The road leading to the Lawyers’ Chambers was opened for entry. At the same time, the farmers shifted their dharna to one lane of the road. The road was opened for the second lane of the road. On the other hand, with the consent of the farmers, the district administration also got the main gate of the district secretariat opened for the general public. Earlier on Wednesday, due to non-agreement between farmer leaders and administrative officers, the talks which lasted for three and a half hours had failed.

Due to the strike by the farmers, the number of people coming for government works is less visible.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait had left for Noida last night. Now the dharna is going on under the leadership of Gurnam Singh Chaduni. Chaduni has said that the increase in the MSP of wheat by only Rs 40 is very shameful. The government has hiked only 2 per cent, while the inflation rate is rising by 7-8%. At the same time, farmer leader Baldev Sirsa said that till the government does not talk to the farmers, there is no point in such increase. The government should discuss with the farmers before increasing the MSP, only then it will be beneficial.

Duty of Police and Paramilitary Force will remain in shifts
On the third day of the gherao, the police-administration divided the duty of the companies of police and paramilitary force deployed in view of security into three shifts. After the departure of one company, the second and after the second the third company will give duty. 40 companies have been called for the security arrangements in the picket and the city. 25 DSPs, 40 Inspectors including SPs of Mewat, Bhiwani, Railway Ambala, Kaithal and Panipat have been deployed in the system. Why are the farmers protesting and what has happened till now?
On August 28, the police lathi-charged the farmers at the Bastara toll plaza. Sushil Kajal, a farmer of Raipur Jatan village of Karnal, was injured in the police lathi charge. In protest against this, the farmers held a mahapanchayat in Karnal grain market on 7 September. Then on August 30, the Bharatiya Kisan Union had made three demands from the Haryana government by holding a mahapanchayat at Gharaunda Anaj Mandi. Along with this, it was announced to gherao the Mahapanchayat and the mini secretariat. On September 6, the administration called the farmers for talks, but things did not materialise.

On Tuesday, in view of the gathering of the farmers in the Mahapanchayat, the administration also sent an invitation to the leaders of the United Kisan Morcha for talks. In the afternoon, a 15-member committee led by Rakesh Tikait, Gurnam Chaduni, Yogendra Yadav and Darshanpal reached the Mini Secretariat. Then during the 3 rounds of talks, the farmer leaders stuck to the suspension of the then SDM Ayush Sinha, who ordered the beheading, but the government was not ready for it. After this, following the orders of Balbir Singh Rajewal, the farmers marched towards the Mini Secretariat.
