Ankita Basappa Konnur, a 15-year-old girl from Bagalkote district, has achieved an outstanding feat by securing the top position in the Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination. She scored a perfect 625 out of 625 marks. Ankita, who attends Morarji Desai Residential School-Mudhol, harbours ambitions of pursuing a career as an IAS officer.
Konnur shared her excitement about her success, saying, “I’m really happy with how I did. I stick to a fixed study schedule without stressing too much or staying up late. This helped me handle any anxiety well. In future, I plan to take science in Pre-University.”
Her English teacher Vinayak Mantor dubbed her as a sharp student who keeps herself well-equipped with general knowledge. She often used to take part in public speaking and quiz competitions. Not long ago, she even bagged the first prize during a public speaking competition. At the event, she spoke on Chandrayaan-3.
“Ankita has been a student at our school since she was in sixth grade. She always knows what’s happening in the world and is smart. She learns things quickly. When she has free time, she looks up stuff on the internet and loves learning new things,” said Mantor.
He added that for Ankita there was no need to study for long hours every day, like 10 to 14 hours. This achievement was possible because of the help from family, teachers, and everyone else. He shared his happiness, saying she expected 99 per cent marks, but is content with a perfect 100 per cent.
Meanwhile, in Dakshina Kannada, Chinmay GK got 624 marks. He said that he did well because of his parents, Malini Hegde and Ganesha Ramachandra Bhat, who are both teachers.
Three students from Bengaluru- Medha Shetty with 624 marks, Sourav Kaushik with 623 marks, and Ankita Anand Andewadikar also with 623 marks- are among the top 10 SSLC candidates. Bengaluru’s rankings have improved since 2023- Bengaluru South moved up from 33 to 12, and Bengaluru North moved up from 32 to 14.
