Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal may contest from Samrala seat – Henry Club

Prominent agriculture leader Balbir Singh Rajewal is likely to contest the Punjab elections from Samrala assembly constituency in Ludhiana district. Samyukta Samaj Morcha (SSM) – a political organization formed by several farmers’ unions after the end of their year-long agitation.

Bhartiya Kisan Union (Mansa) president Ruldu Singh is also expected to contest from Mansa.

A senior leader of SSM told Indian Express The formal list of candidates will be released soon on Tuesday, but Rajewal And Raldu’s seats are almost final.

When asked, Rajewal – the president of BKU (Rajewal) – did not rule out the possibility and said: “My house is in Samrala.”

Rajewal is also a prominent face of the SSM, which was formed last month by nearly two dozen farm unions that led an agitation against the central laws, announcing that they would contest all 117 seats in Punjab. The state votes to elect its next government on February 14.
