Farmer applies for bank loan to buy helicopter, says farming is impossible

New Delhi: A 22-year-old farmer from Maharashtra’s Hingoli has applied for a bank loan of over Rs 6 crore to buy and rent a helicopter, citing the cheapness of farming. Kailas Patange, a resident of Taktoda village in the district, approached a Goregaon bank with his loan application on Thursday. Patange, who owns two acres of land, said conditions like erratic rains and drought have made farming unaffordable in the past few years.

“I have cultivated soybean on my land in the last two years. But I didn’t get good returns due to unseasonal rain. Crop insurance money was also not enough,” said the moth. (Also read: Net direct tax collection jumps 45% in 2022-23 till June 16)

Talking to PTI, the moth said, ‘Who says that only big people should dream big? Farmers also dream big. I have applied for a loan of Rs 6.65 crore to buy a helicopter. There’s a lot of competition in other businesses, so I decided to go for it.” (ALSO READ: ‘Guptaji Ka Ladka Rocks’ say netizens after Shark Tank India’s Aman Gupta bags award)
