Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhasker Comment Virat Kohli For Backing Mohammed Shami Against Abuse

After India lost to Pakistan t20 world cupThere were many trolls attacking cricketer Mohammed Shami online. The cricketer faced abuse because of his religion, which made headlines. On Saturday, Indian national cricket team captain Virat Kohli spoke against the trolls. During a press conference, Kohli hit out at the ‘spineless’ people, saying attacking someone in the name of religion is the most ‘pathetic’ thing to do. Following his statement, actors Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhaskar, Nakuul Mehta and others took to Twitter to praise the captain.

Sharing a picture of Kohli, Farhan wrote, “Well said captain.” While Swara clapped and retweeted Kohli’s speech. Actor Nakuul Mehta further commented, “Kohli’s best knock, yet!” Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra also shared the post, writing, “Captain bola hai!”

At the press conference the cricketer had said, “For me, attacking someone’s religion is the most pathetic thing that a human being can do. Everyone has the right to express their opinion on how they feel about a certain situation. But I personally never thought of discriminating (against) anyone regarding my religion. It is a very sacred and personal thing for every human being.”

He continued, “People vent their frustrations because they clearly have no understanding of what we do as individuals. They have no understanding of how hard we work on the field. He has no understanding of the fact that a man like Mohammed Shami has led India to many matches over the years and he along with Jasprit Bumrah has been our primary bowler when it comes to making an impact in sports.

Meanwhile, India will play against New Zealand on Sunday. They have to play against Afghanistan on 3 November.
