ICC T20 World Cup is near and with the schedule released by International Cricket Committee (ICC), fans are gearing up for the T20 event, which will be co-hosted by Oman and UAE. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin from October 17 and will continue with the final to be played on November 14. The 2021 T20 World Cup was originally scheduled to be played in India, however, due to the devastating COVID-19 wave this year, the BCCI and the ICC have agreed to shift the venue to Oman and UAE.
The Men in Blue began their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan, one of the most anticipated clashes in any international cricket tournament. India will face Pakistan on 24 October in Dubai. Team India has an edge over its neighbors as Pakistan has never defeated India in a T20 World Cup match. The last time the two sides faced off was in the 2016 T20 World Cup at the Eden Gardens and India won by 6 wickets in a low-scoring affair.
However, the rounds and schedule for India have been released and fans are not satisfied with the venues where India will play. The Men in Blue will play in the group round clash in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but not Sharjah. Netizens are worried as the Sharjah Cricket Stadium is known as the ‘batsmen’s paradise’. The boundaries are short and a lot of maximum runs are scored in the venue, making it a matter of batting as well as hell for the bowlers. Many IPL matches have been played and scores above 200 are easily chased.

In Group 2’s Super 12, the Men in Blue will face New Zealand after their clash with Pakistan on 31 October, followed by a match against Afghanistan on 3 November. Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host a total of 11 cricket matches in the tournament, however, India is not expected to play in Sharjah. The two semi-finals are being played in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11 respectively and the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup final will be played in Dubai on November 14.
India has won the T20 World Cup only once, that too in 2007, the inaugural tournament under the guidance of MS Dhoni. India have reached the semi-finals so far and in the 2016 edition, the Men in Blue were knocked out. Final winner by West Indies. India will look to start their campaign with a win against Pakistan on 24 October.
