control board for Cricket In India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced a 17-man squad for the two-match T20I series against Ireland. IPL winning captain Hardik Pandya will lead the Men in Blue against Ireland while pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named as the vice-captain.
Batsman Rahul Tripathi earned his maiden India call-up, but young opener Prithvi Shaw did not find his name in the squad. Prithvi’s boycott became a huge buzzword as fans and followers of the game expressed sympathy for the 22-year-old batsman and expressed their views on Twitter.
While talking about Prithvi being out, a social media user felt that the opening batsman should not be confined to the IPL. “The reason is not just doing cricket alone, something is seriously off as far as the Indian selectors and Prithvi Shaw are concerned… IPL Alone…it would be a loss to the game,” he wrote in the caption.

Another said that Prithvi is India’s best youth. A social media user had tweeted, “Prithvi Shaw is the best young player in India and they are not picking him.”

A cricket enthusiast has pointed out that despite showing good form in the IPL, Prithvi has managed to play only one T20I so far. “It amazes me that Prithvi Shaw has shown in IPL how dangerous he can be, yet he has played only 1 T20I so far,” read the caption of the post.

“I’m surprised that Prithvi Shaw being the most suitable player for the T20 format gets ignored from the team as the management still believes in the dinosaur era of “anchoring” and consistently deserves at least one for that role in T20Is. Picks at least 3-4 players,” wrote a user referring to Prithvi’s outing.
What amazes me is how Prithvi Shaw is the best fit for the T20 format, which is ignored from the team as the management still believes in the dinosaur age of “anchoring” and has at least 3 consecutive T20Is for that role. Chooses -4 players.

“If the selectors are considering Ishan Kishan And Ruturaj should also consider Prithvi Shaw in every series not to waste his talent. He is an all-format player,” read a comment.

Still Prithvi Shaw not to tour Ireland, a tough call.

Prithvi Shaw has also been overlooked for the T20 series against Ireland despite his strike rate of 283 runs @ 152.97 in the 2022 IPL. I am amazed Is this how to deal with a rare talent and he is just 21 years old. If there are shortcomings, they should be pointed out.

Prithvi Shaw rebuffed the third Indian batsman (current) with a senior of 147.45 after Rishabh and Hardik in the IPL. That too the last two seasons are SR 159.14 and 152.97. pic.twitter.com/yLtzz0a24t

WTF man, no place for Prithvi Shaw again
A guy who should be a starter on your first team is somehow not making it to the second team…
Don’t know what wrong I have done which has been ignored, but this is really stupid and India’s defeat #prithvishaw https://t.co/QcoMuW6V03 pic.twitter.com/gUq5uTbBuX
