11 laptops, 1 iPad, 18 mobile phones, 1 Toyota Fortuner car, around Rs 1 lakh in cash and gold ornaments, which were purchased from the proceeds of the crime, were recovered from the accused. Apart from this, the police has also arrested an accused resident of Ludhiana, who used to give hawala money to the accused from Ludhiana.
Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said, “Police investigation found that the accused were involved in this fraud for the last three years and have so far cheated around 40 crores. After busting the Ludhiana fake call center, in further investigation. Mohali was found to be the kingpin. Police arrested the main accused Pinak, Prateek, Dhruv and Jigar from there. CP Ludhiana said that in another raid conducted in Delhi, Vaibhav Gupta was arrested. The accused was the technical backbone of the module which received regular monthly payments for its services. Since most of the payments by the accused were made and received through hawala channels, raids were conducted on hawala dealers in Ludhiana, resulting in the arrest of one Sachin Patel, originally from Gujarat, from the area of Sham Nagar near Bus Stand Ludhiana. Was gone and recovered approx. 27 lakh hawala money from the accused.
Further ADCP- Probe Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, who led the operation, said that the investigation in the case has revealed that the accused have purchased several flats in posh areas of Ahmedabad by using the proceeds of crime. A thorough financial and technical investigation will be carried out to ascertain the proceeds of crime and to unravel the back and forth links of this module across India and to trace the entire racket. About Rs 1.52 crore proceeds of crime are being confiscated, as well as freezing up to Rs 39 lakh in 18 bank accounts.
