During a press conference, Shinde said that the leader does not even give up the post of a panchayat chief. “I will not betray the confidence that Fadnavis has reposed in me,” Shinde told the media.

Fadnavis, former chief minister and currently the leader of opposition in the assembly, said the BJP would support Shinde’s group.

BJP is the largest party in the assembly.

“I will be out of the government, but will ensure smooth functioning of the coming government as an alternative after Uddhav Thackeray’s resignation,” Fadnavis said.

He said that during the expansion, along with Shiv Sena (rebels), BJP MLAs and some independents will also take oath as ministers.

He said there was unrest in Shiv Sena as the alliance with Congress and NCP was an insult to the mandate of the 2019 assembly polls when Shiv Sena and BJP fought elections together.

“Uddhav Thackeray forged an alliance with parties (Congress and NCP) which (Shiv Sena founder) Bal Thackeray had opposed throughout his life,” Fadnavis claimed.

The BJP leader said the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance was “corrupt” and that two ministers of that government are in jail on charges of corruption and money laundering.

Fadnavis said Shiv Sena MLAs are facing problems in their constituencies as MVA allies are hurting their prospects.

He claimed that Congress and NCP leaders were being given government money in the constituencies of Shiv Sena leaders.

Speaking later, Eknath Shinde, MLA from Kopri-Panchpakhadi in Thane city, said that he took the decision (to rebel against the MVA government) with the support of 50 MLAs for the development of the state and “there was no personal interest involved.” “

‘Limits of functioning of government’

“There were limits to the functioning of the MVA,” he said.

Shinde, a senior minister in the Thackeray government, lauded Fadnavis for giving up the opportunity to become the chief minister, saying the BJP leader showed great courage in making “Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sainik” the next chief minister.

Without naming Uddhav Thackeray, he said when 50 MLAs take a decision, it demands introspection.
