Facebook app on iOS is not giving users the option of dark mode

Facebook is one of the many apps that now supports the Dark Mode interface on mobile devices. But this week, several iOS users complained that dark mode support for their devices has reportedly disappeared.

according to a report by 9to5MacThe dark mode option is gone in Facebook for iOS and no one knows the reason for its disappearance. Some suggest the problem is a bug, but we are yet to hear about the sudden incident from the Meta-owned social networking platform.

Meanwhile, Facebook users have taken to other social media platforms like Twitter, where they raised the issue of losing dark mode support on iOS.

The issue is not just limited to the in-app dark mode theme. Facebook seems to have lost support for the system-wide dark mode feature on iOS as well. These can be enabled manually on the Facebook and iPhone Settings section respectively.

But since they’re not seeing the feature anywhere on the platform, Facebook has stopped accepting even basic system-wide dark mode preferences. Furthermore, users cannot enable the theme manually either.

We’re hoping that Facebook has heard complaints from millions of iOS users over the past few hours, and has started working on an update to fix the issue. It’s rare for a feature to go missing like this and it doesn’t look like a major bug is causing the problem.

Facebook got system-wide dark mode support on iOS with the release of iOS 13 in 2019.

But native dark mode support on Facebook for iOS wasn’t released until June 2020, while Android users were able to use the new dark theme on their apps long before they got to iPhone users.
