F1 2022: Max Verstappen takes pole at 2022 Dutch Grand Prix: Perez spins out in Qualifying – Times of India

The Dutch Grand Prix returned to the 2022 Formula 1 season as 15th round, with Max Verstappen heading to his home GP race comfortably leading the Driver Standings with 284 points to his name. After securing a pole position today, the reigning Champion will be looking to take his fourth consecutive win and also impress his home crowd at the Circuit Zandvoort in Netherlands.
Here’s how the three qualifying sessions of the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix went down at the 4.259 km long circuit today –
2022 Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying 1
Verstappen went the fastest in Q1, posting a lap time of 1:11.317, ahead of Lewis Hamilton in second, and Yuki Tsunoda in third. Charles Leclerc was fourth fastest, and Lando Norris came fifth. Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen, Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel and Nicholas Latifi were eliminated in the first qualifying, and they start tomorrow’s race from 16th to 20th respectively.
2022 Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying 2
Carlos Sainz took the first position in the second qualifying, while George Russell was behind the Ferrari driver on second. Max Verstappen finished Q2 on third, ahead of Charles Leclerc (4th) and Lewis Hamilton (5th). Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso, Zhou Guanyu and Alex Albon did not make it to Q3 .
2022 Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying 3
Max Verstappen ended up taking the pole position at his home Grand Prix while his teammate Sergio Perez could only finish fifth fastest after spinning out on his flying lap. Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz start the main race tomorrow from the second and third positions respectively. Lewis Hamilton joins Sainz to complete the second row.
George Russell will take P6 tomorrow, ahead of his compatriot and McLaren driver Lando Norris on 7th. Mick Schumacher, Yuki Tsunoda, and Lance Stroll start the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix from P8, P9 and P10 respectively.
