External Affairs Minister Jaishankar holds ‘successful’ talks with Serbian counterpart

India and Serbia on Sunday agreed to deepen economic engagement during “successful” talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selkovic. The Serbian Foreign Minister arrived here this morning on a two-day visit.

“Warm and fruitful discussion with Serbian FM Nikola Selkovic. Reaffirms our strong political bonds and independent stance in global politics,” Jaishankar said on Twitter.

“Agreed to take forward our long-standing cooperation, especially in the economic sphere,” he said. Selakovic will meet Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu before leaving for Doha on Monday.

Trade relations between India and Serbia are getting stronger. According to official figures, the bilateral trade volume stood at US$ 142.7 million in 2016, which increased to US$ 198.5 million in 2017.

Bilateral trade was recorded at USD 214.8 million in 2018 which included Indian exports of USD 202.6 million.
