An explosion took place in the house on Saturday morning at Jandoli Road Sant Nagar near Rajpura. Two children of two families died in the accident and two were admitted to Rajindra Hospital Patiala in critical condition. At the time of the incident, all the elders of the house had gone to get the vaccine.

The work of making firecrackers was going on in a house in Sant Colony located on village Jandoli Road. Four children of two families Manpreet Kaur (12), Pallavi (8) Gurpreet Singh (12) and Krishna (6) were playing in a room. Suddenly there was an explosion in the room. The explosion was so strong that the roof of the house was broken and the walls turned into rubble.

When the neighbors rushed to the spot after hearing the sound, they pulled out the four children buried under the rubble with great difficulty. Manpreet Kaur (12) died on the spot and Pallavi died on reaching PGI Chandigarh. Two seriously injured Gurpreet and Krishna were referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. On the information of the incident, SSP Patiala Dr. Sandeep Garg, SP Patiala Kesar Singh, SDM Rajpura Khushdil Singh, DSP Gurbans Singh Bains besides Rajpura MLA Hardayal Singh Kamboj and many others reached the spot. According to officials, the explosion was caused by the equipment used to make firecrackers. The whole incident is being investigated.

SDM Khushdil Singh and DSP Rajpura Gurbans Singh Bains, who arrived with the team, said that there was information about an explosion in the cylinder. In the initial investigation, it seems that the work of making firecrackers was going on here and this is also the reason for the explosion. Potash used for making fireworks was also recovered from the spot.

Eyewitnesses said – were in the fields when the explosion happened
Eyewitnesses Sunny, Sikandar Insa, Darshan Singh, Rakesh Kumar told that they were working in the nearby field. At 11 o’clock there was a big bang. On seeing the spot, two children were buried under the debris and two children had fallen outside the house due to the explosion. The injured were admitted to the Civil Hospital in Rajpura on their bikes.

Mother Meena Devi became unconscious after hearing the news of the death of her 12-year-old daughter Manpreet in the blast. She was neither speaking nor seeing anything. Relatives kept trying to make her cry but she remained unconscious. Meena’s relatives told that she had gone nearby for vaccination.
