Dwayne Bravo stepped up and took 4–19, including the crucial 60-run wicket of Quinton de Kock as West Indies restricted South Africa to 146–9. Captain Kieron Pollard also played a key role with the ball to make up for Allens’ loss, scoring 1-24 runs in his four overs.

The workload had increased on Andre Russell, taking 2-20 and self-declared Universe boss Chris Gayle failed with the bat, but claimed the wicket of Proteas opener Reeza Hendrix with his first delivery and finished with 1-11. Happened. Gayle also took two catches.

Pollard, who was the man of the match, said that Chris (Gayle) bowled an over and got a wicket… sometimes you take a chance and it works.

Pollard said that we had to bowl a few overs as Allen was straight out of action due to a dislocated shoulder.

I didn’t bowl much in the first two games,” he said, “then I bowled in the last game. It was a matter of trying to use up a lot of experience. (Bravo) and Obed McCoy continued to do well for us. And today Andre Russell coming into the game and bowling his four overs and taking some wickets… I think that was important for us.

It was a total team effort on our part, so let’s see what happens on Saturday.

For the first time in the series, South Africa won the toss on Thursday and invited West Indies to bat.

The home side were in trouble at 101-6 in the 15th over before saving the innings which was flagged by an unbroken 66-run partnership for the eighth wicket between Pollard and Allen.

Pollard hit a half-century in 24 balls including five sixes and scored an unbeaten 51. He hit three sixes from the 19th over to 25 runs which was almost the difference between the teams.

Allen played a crucial supporting role, scoring 19 off 13 balls as West Indies extended their innings in the final five overs.

Pollard said that in the last few matches I did not face many balls, so I tried to give myself a chance and being there in the end is something I have done over and over again.

West Indies’ total for the series was equal. Batting first, South Africa scored 160-6, in the second 166-7 and in the third 167-8.

As long as de Kock was at the crease, South Africa had a chance to win matches and series. This will be South Africa’s first win in a T20I series in two years.

Batting till the 18th over, de Kock scored 63 runs in 43 balls. South Africa needed 50 runs in the last 25 balls, it was not a difficult task. But when de Kock delivered a wide delivery to Lendl Simmons straight off Bravo, the Proteas’ chase was over. After de Kock, the next best effort for South Africa was Aiden Markram’s 20.
