Ex-Congress MP V Huanumanth Rao who had a chance meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the parliament on Monday, urged the latter to implement the long pending demand from the Backward Classes community in the country to remove the creamy layer from the reservations ambit, set up a union BC welfare ministry and take up the caste census.

HYDERABAD: Former Congress MP V Huanumanth Rao who had a chance meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the parliament on Monday, urged the latter to implement the long pending demand from the Backward Classes community in the country to remove the creamy layer from the reservations ambit, set up a union BC welfare ministry and take up the caste census.
Hanumanth Rao who had attended a national level conference of other backward classes in Delhi, had gone to meet AICC in charge of Telangana and MP Manickam Tagore in the Parliament. When the PM came across, the two had a brief chat during which Rao urged Modi to look into the BC welfare issue.
“It was a chance meeting with PM Modi and when he enquired with me about my well being I took up the issue of BC welfare,” Rao told TOI. Rao earlier had headed a forum of OBC MPs at the national level. Rao has also served as Rajya Sabha MP for three terms.
