Ludhiana: National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal He said on Thursday that his party would provide better public health services with free and best treatment facilities under ‘6-point benefits’ as part of their second guarantee if voted to power in Punjab.
Kejriwal, who is on a two-day visit to Punjab, made these announcements during a press conference in Ludhiana. Kejriwal was accompanied by AAP’s Punjab unit president and MP Bhagwant Mann, in-charge of Punjab affairs Jarnail Singh, co-in-charge Raghav Chadha, Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema and Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh.
Earlier, Kejriwal had announced 300 units of electricity and 24-hour power supply for the people of the state under his first guarantee.
Kejriwal said that the condition of health facilities in Punjab is bad.
“Either you go to any government hospital, primary health center or community health center in Punjab; You will not get any treatment. There is no doctor there. There is no medicine here and even the machines are not working. Under compulsion one has to go to a private hospital which robs people unnecessarily. In Delhi also, when we took power seven years back, the situation was very bad but we changed the situation and will do the same in Punjab.
Kejriwal announced free and best treatment facilities in government hospitals under the ‘6-point’ second guarantee. He also gave free guarantee of medicines, tests, treatments and surgeries.
Kejriwal announced that a digital health card would be issued to the people of Punjab, which would contain all the details and medical records of the person concerned. He said that all the systems connected with it would be computerized.
Under the fourth benefit, AAP’s national convener announced the opening of ‘Pind Clinic’ in the state on the lines of Mohalla Clinic in Delhi.
We will open 16,000 ‘Pind Clinics’ in all villages, wards and cities.
Under the fifth benefit, Arvind Kejriwal pledged to improve the infrastructure of existing government hospitals with the establishment of new government hospitals on a large scale. Finally, Kejriwal announced a scheme for road accident cases like Delhi in which free treatment would be provided to the victims.
“In this ongoing political instability in Punjab, there is a ray of hope in the form of AAP which thinks about the people of the state, thinks about electricity, health and other issues,” he said.
He also announced that on the demand of media persons, AAP would set up press clubs for the welfare of journalists in all the districts of the state.
Meanwhile, criticizing the Congress over the recent events in the state, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Punjab had chosen Congress to form the government with great hope. But today the party has made fun of it. There is a dirty fight going on for power. All their leaders want to become CM. There is so much infighting that the government has disappeared. On the other hand, there is AAP, which is planning for the development and progress of Punjab.
On the party’s CM face in Punjab, Kejriwal said that he will announce the CM candidate in due time.
“The candidate will be a person that the whole of Punjab will be proud of,” he said.
On Navjot Sidhu joining AAP, Arvind Kejriwal said, “It is a hypothetical question. Whenever something like this happens, we’ll be the first to let you know.”
