Users troll Burmese Army over tweet congratulating English duo Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes after CSK become IPL champions
The Barmy Army, a fan community of the England cricket team, was trolled by users on Twitter after it dropped a congratulatory tweet for two countrymen Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali following Chennai Super Kings’ historic IPL win.
After Chennai’s five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the final, the Barmy Army shared a picture of Stokes and Ali in Chennai outfits, wishing the all-rounder duo all the best.

The tweet read, “Congratulations Ben and Mo.”
Fans started pointing out that Stokes rarely appeared for Chennai in the IPL.
In a bizarre reference to PUBG, an online survival game, a fan labeled Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali’s victory as “chicken dinner with o kills”.

Commenting on this, a fan from Chennai said, ‘Ben Stokes does not deserve any congratulations for this achievement.’

Some expected Stokes and Moeen to become two vital components of the Chennai unit in the coming season.

CSK broke the bank in the IPL mini-auction to acquire the services of the England all-rounder.
The England Test skipper joined the IPL giants for a staggering Rs 16.25 crore, one of the biggest buys of the season.

Stokes was expected to entertain the Chennai fans but fitness concerns curtailed his participation.
Stokes could only play in two group matches in IPL 2023 and looked very lackluster on both the occasions. He has scored a total of 15 runs this season while bowling just one over. Even after recovering, Stokes was seen sitting in the dugout in Chennai.
Moeen, however, was the more stable name on the team sheet this season, playing 15 games. Although Ali looked calm with the bat, his bowling came to the rescue in several contests. In a match against Lucknow Super Giants at Chepauk, he managed to turn the tide of the game by taking four wickets.
In his 15 appearances, Ali took nine wickets, while scoring a total of 124 runs with the bat.
