Euro 2020 final: Leonardo Bonucci’s draw for Italy against England made him the oldest goalscorer in the Euro final at 34 years and 71 days.

Leonardo Bonucci equalized for Italy in the 67th minute of the Euro 2020 final at Wembley on Monday, becoming the oldest goalscorer in the history of the tournament’s final. At 34 years and 71 days old, Bonucci created the equalizer, which he celebrated in front of Italian fans by raising both his arms and clenching fists by standing atop advertising billboards.

In addition to being the oldest goalscorer, Bonucci also has the most appearances in the history of the Euro Finals.

Bonucci’s goal was coming with the pressure Italy had put on England since the ‘home’ team took an early lead at the 1-minute and 57-second mark. Luke Shaw scored the fastest goal in the Euro final as he sent Wembley into a frenzy, raising hopes of ending England’s 55-year wait for a major trophy. This is the first time England have reached the final of a major tournament since winning the FIFA World Cup in 1966.

Italy earned themselves a corner which gave them an equal. Berardi’s corner put England in trouble and even though Pickford made an early save against a powerful header from Marco Verratti, Leonardo Bonucci was in a position to hunt the ball home.

England were completely on the back foot as Italy had complete control of the ball and movement on the pitch.

Earlier, Italy’s poor defending gave England the gift of an opener. Harry Kane played Kieran Trippier on the right and since he wasn’t stopped by the Italians, he had all the time in the world to take Luke Shaw’s run to the far post and keep an inch-perfect pass. Shaw gave the striker’s finish with a sweet volley.
