Nainital/Mussoorie: Tourist rush continued in major hill towns over the weekend Uttarakhand on Sunday. Despite recently imposed restrictions to enter Nainital and Mussoorie – a mandatory RT-PCR negative report but registration smart city Portal and Hotel Reservation – Heavy traffic jams were reported from both Nainital and Mussoorie. Around 2,500 people found without necessary documents were sent back from the checkpost. “Checkpoints have been set up at all the entry points of the city and almost every vehicle has been checked to ensure that no one is entering without proper documents,” said a police officer.
Meanwhile, hotels in Nainital were packed on weekends and tourist places were packed with people. There was heavy police presence in front of the restaurant at Pant Park and the town bus stand, where patrolling police often dispersed the crowd.
A similar sight was also seen in Mussoorie on Sunday. Long queues of vehicles from Kincraig to Library Chowk. Verification of RT-PCR report and other documents on Kuthal Gate Traffic came to a standstill at the check post.
“We were stuck at Kuthal Gate for about 45 minutes. From Dehradun to Mussoorie, it took us around two and a half hours whereas on normal days, it takes around an hour. Ashutosh Arorawho were visiting the city from New Delhi. People in Mussoorie welcomed the move to strictly scrutinize the documents.
