Eternals Box Office Day 1: Marvel film earns Rs 7.35 crore, retains its ground despite Sooryavanshi clash

Marvel Studios films have always been a big attraction for audiences in India and with the release of Eternal, which hit the cinema halls on November 5, the story was no different. The film stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani among others and most of them are well-known faces in India as well. Despite clashing with Sooryavanshi, Eternal had a solid start at the box office upon its release and earned Rs 7.35 crore on its first day.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh ​​shared the box office figures for Eternal on Twitter and wrote, “Eternal off to a flying start…Despite facing two tough opponents (Sooryavanshi, Annaatthe), the Marvel film had a solid opening day. Totally packed… Fri Rs 7.35 Cr Net BOC (1400 Screens. Bharat Biz. All Versions. Gross BOC: Rs 8.75 Cr. Diwali (sic).”

The figure it raised on the first day of release makes a case for a good first weekend for Eternal despite the Covid pandemic.

Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif also did great business on the first day of its release. As per reports, it managed to rake in close to Rs 26 crore on the first day of release thus registering the biggest launch ever in the Covid era.

Marvel’s Eternal is the third superhero film to be released in the Kovid era after Black Widow and Shang-Chi. Before that, both Black Widow and Shang-Chi had helped revive the possibilities of cinema to some extent.
