‘Eternal’ early reviews: Critics praise Chloe Zaho’s ‘visually stunning masterpiece’; Rave about a different plot than any Marvel superhero film – Times of India

The world premiere of Marvel Studios’ latest comic book adaptation, ‘Eternal‘, took place on Monday and the initial reviews are pouring in on social media. One thing is certain, Kevin Feige was not kidding when he said that the film would ‘completely redefine the Marve Cinematic Universe (MCU)’.

Academy Award Winning Director chloe zhao had joined his diverse cast including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, gemma chano, kit harrington, Don Lee, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Lauren Ridloff and kumail nanjiani Head to the iconic Dolby Theater for a scintillating and glamorous red carpet event.

Following the world premiere, there was the first wave of spoiler-free reviews on social media, with critics slamming the “visual masterpiece” if not for the stellar performances of the cast and director. Admitting that this is the first time immortal beings are being introduced to the MCU, one critic said, “I watched a movie tonight. #Eternals is cool as hell. Act 2 drags a bit but I Didn’t know anything about this film and a fan walked out.”

Going by the upcoming tweets, it can be assured that ‘Eternal’ is unlike any other Marvel movie we’ve seen so far. Some called it the best since the ‘Avengers’, others considered it to be ‘epic in every sense of the word’.

“Eternals is epic in every sense of the word. It’s a story that’s more expansive, but at the same time more down-to-earth than the MCU. The passion of everyone involved for this film is present in every scene.” And it needs to be seen on the biggest screen,” said one Twitter user.

Another added, “Eternal, wow! So much to unpack. If the Marvel movies are a Venn diagram — the variations within that overlap — this movie is off the charts. The most different of any of their films.”

‘Eternal’ is part of the fourth phase of MCU, which started with ‘VandaVision’ on the OTT platform. While the production giant has released ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘Loki’ and ‘What If…?’ Having released a bunch of web series, including Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Black Widow’, it will be only the second film to be released.
