ESI Hospital: Odisha: State Government urged to provide 5 acres of land for ESI Hospital at Chaudwar. Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: The Center has urged that Orissa Government will give five acres of land to set up ESI Hospital Feather quadrangle In Cuttack district.
Since the existing Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) hospital building in the city is very old and is located within the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) protected monument, it did not get permission for renovation.
Existence ESI The hospital was established in 1960. Considering the age of the building, a structural audit of the building was conducted by Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) (formerly College of Engineering and Technology Bhubaneswar).
Based on the structural audit, demolition of the existing ESI Hospital building was recommended. However, the ASI has refused to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the restoration as the hospital is within the protected monument area.
Later, the Odisha government provided an alternative site consisting of five acres of land at Kanhipur village under Tangi-Chowdwar tehsil for the construction of the new hospital. Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Rameshwar Teli, while replying to a question by BJD MP Mahesh Sahu, said, “Though the site is outside the ASI protected memorial area, it is located at a distance of 11 km from the existing hospital.” Lok Sabha,
Teli said the Odisha government has been requested to provide five acres of land outside the ASI protected area and around the existing ESI hospital, Choudwar, as most of the insured persons live around the existing hospital.
Parthasarathy Panda, director of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Odisha’s regional office, said they have discussed with the local tehsildar and officials of Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) for land selection. “I will also discuss with the district collector for suitable land near the existing hospital,” he said.
