Varanasi: The Kashi Vishwanath Dham (corridor) project is nearing completion and the task of designing and refining the model for its smooth operation, revenue generation and maintenance has been entrusted to London-based multinational company Ernst End. Youth, is counted among the four big firms.
A team from Ernst & Young, one of the world’s largest professional services networks, made their first presentation on Sunday before the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Special Area Development Board.
The firm will also develop IT solutions and software for on-campus crowd management.
The remaining construction and finishing work of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project worth over Rs 700 crore is in full swing and is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December.
Ernst & Young has been roped in to model the revenue generation to assist in the operation and maintenance of all establishments in the corridor except the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is overseen by the KV Mandir Trust.
Speaking to TOI on Sunday, Chairman of the Board and Divisional Commissioner Deepak Agarwal said, “E&Y was appointed consultant through the tender process to prepare a model for operation and maintenance of KV Dham in mid-October Was. The company made its first presentation in front of us today. We have made some suggestions in the proposed model which will be included in the next presentation on 10th November. Till then, the process of calling for Request for Proposal (RFP) and Expression of Interest (EoI) will be completed.
“The trust KV looks after the affairs of the temple by way of donations which can be used only for the temple. The area of ​​the complex has now grown to 5 lakh square feet in which 23 major buildings including Mandir Chowk, Guest House, Multipurpose Hall, Clinic and Dharamshala, Pilgrim Facilitation Centre, 70 Shops, Varanasi Gallery and Museum, Cafeteria and Toilets are being constructed. Is. Agarwal said.
Once the project is inaugurated and open to the public, it will require revenue for daily operation and maintenance, he said.
“We needed a well thought out and designed model for accounting for seamless generation of revenue, its channelization and meeting the requirements of operation and maintenance,” the commissioner said.
He said that keeping in view the requirements, the board had decided to design and develop the revenue model and appoint a top professional consultant to streamline the operations.
“Finding a consultant was not an easy task as none of the companies showed interest, though we floated the tender thrice. When the tender was floated for the fourth time, only E&Y participated in it and it was awarded the contract, after a basic study, the company has estimated around 27 crores per annum for all services, facilities and maintenance. Rs. KV Dham,” he said.
The company will also develop an IT solution and software for crowd management. “People will not have to stand in queues for hours to enter the KVT as a software is being developed which will issue tokens with a time slot of half an hour. Pilgrims can visit other facilities at KV Dham instead of standing in queues,” said Agarwal.
“KV Dham will have three entry points from Ganga, Saraswati Phatak and Godoulia Gate, while the KVT complex will have four entry points. E&Y will also propose a scheme for seamless movement inside KV Dham keeping in view the security arrangements.
