New Delhi: An announcement by EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation) comes as a big relief for its account holders and now account holders can add nominees online even after December 31, 2021. However, EPFO has suggested to its members that they should mandatorily go for e-nomination.
Nominee’s name can be added even after 31st December 2021
EPFO has said in a tweet that EPF account holders can make anyone their nominee even after December 31, 2021. According to EPFO, it is very important to file e-nomination online, which will provide benefits of provident fund, pension (employee pension). Scheme) and Insurance (EDLI) after the death of the account holder and the nominee will also be able to file claims online. It will also be easier for the members to settle pension claims.

Actually, many users were complaining for a long time that the EPFO website is not working and hence they are not able to add the name of the nominee in their EPF account. Therefore, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization has extended the date of e-nomination. Although EPF account holders will be able to do e-nomination even after December 31, 2021, but EPFO did not say when the deadline would end.
The members may nominate more than one nominee and may also decide the percentage of share among all such nominees. EPF account holders can add nominee online and to avail the same, customers should have an active Universal Account Number (UAN) and Aadhaar details should be linked to the EPF account of the subscribers.
In May this year, EPFO increased the maximum sum insured payable under the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) scheme to Rs 7 lakh.
