Ensure better coordination between state government and party, Nadda advises Manipur unit in preparation for 2022 elections

In his first visit to Manipur since taking over the reins from Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda is on a two-day visit to the state, with elections to be held in the first half of 2022. Apart from holding a public meeting on Saturday, Nadda also met party MPs, MLAs and other office bearers in an in-camera meeting.

The discussion in the meeting was simple and straightforward – work for better coordination between the party and the government. It has been emphasized that great work is being done by the government in Manipur, which is a border state, and several important initiatives are being taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government which are beneficial to the people. . North-East and especially of Manipur. These initiatives need to be highlighted and people have to be told how the beneficiaries have actually been able to achieve the promise made by the government.

The need to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, including strengthening the booths, was once again emphasized. “Mera Booth Sabse Strongest” was an initiative that was started by former party president and current home minister Amit Shah in 2014, when he came to the center from Gujarat and since then, it has garnered huge benefits for the BJP across the country. Various elections including Bengal, where the party of three MLAs grew to 77.

Nadda assured party leaders that the focus of the Modi government, unlike any other government in the past, has been to see the rise of the Northeast, which is the most backward revision zone in the country and has been overlooked for decades.

Sources privy to the meeting also tell CNN-News18 that Amit Shah is likely to visit the state in late October or early November. The card also includes PM Modi’s visit, details of which are being worked out.

BJP’s official campaign has started in Manipur with Nadda’s visit. The BJP national president will inaugurate several party offices, including one in state capital Imphal. He will also hold a meeting with the intellectuals and prominent citizens of Manipur apart from holding several organization meetings.

Election in-charge Bhupender Yadav, co-incharge Pratima Bhowmik and Ashok Singhal, along with state in-charge Dr Sambit Patra, Manipur CM N Biren Singh will be with Nadda in these meetings.

The saffron party is gearing up for the upcoming Manipur Assembly elections and has set a target of securing a two-thirds majority and 40 out of 60 seats in the polls. The BJP unit led by Biren Singh is seeking its second term there.

Heading the NDA government, Biren Singh formed the government in Manipur on March 15, 2017 and took oath. Later, four new ministers were included in his cabinet.
