England’s inconsistent death bowling cost them a place in 2021 T20 World final, feels Nasser Hussain

Former cricketer Nasser Hussain explains the reason for England’s semi-final defeat t20 world cup Eoin Morgan & Co lost the crucial match by 5 wickets against New Zealand on Wednesday after leaking too many runs at the end of the business. Jimmy Neesham, who came out to bat in the 16th over, accelerated the pace in favor of the Kiwi team with a quick innings of 27 runs in 11 balls. In the end, Daryl Mithsell ended things for New Zealand when he smashed Chris Woakes for two sixes and a four.

England were very much ahead in the game in the second innings, with New Zealand posting 58/2 on the scoreboard after 10 overs.

Hossain recalled the 2016 T20 World Cup final, where England lost to the West Indies, and cited the similarities between the two defeats. The former England captain threw light on the issue of death bowling in the English camp.

Hussain wrote in a column for the Daily Mail, “Just as England’s death bowling cost them four sixes off Ben Stokes in the final of the last T20 World Cup, it happened again on Wednesday night “

“It’s one aspect of their game that this England team hasn’t consistently done right.”

England’s fast bowlers came up with a lot of runs in the last five overs as Hossain said that it was probably because of Morgan’s plan that his bowlers shy away from bowling yorkers.

“I am saying that Jordan’s death bowling hasn’t been that good in the past year or so and that is probably because Eoin Morgan has gone off the plan to bowl yorkers,” he said.

“But it is not easy and one can go for big runs if they are partially shut down. This is not a case of Jordan losing the World Cup to England and I hope people don’t understand it that way.

“One has to put one’s hand up and bowl in the toughest of times when the opposition is coming at you. It just didn’t work for them at night,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, New Zealand, entering their maiden T20 World Cup final, continued their consistent performances in ICC events under the leadership of Kane Williamson, who also guides them to the inaugural World Test Championship trophy this year.

New Zealand will face the winner of the semi-finals Pakistan vs Australia in the final to be held in Dubai on November 14.
