Jos Buttler was extremely disappointed after England’s 49-run loss to India in the second T20I at Edgbaston in Birmingham. On Saturday, July 9, the Men in Blue supported their 50-run victory at the Rose Bowl with another strong performance, taking an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.

After being asked to chase down 171, England lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 121 runs in 17 overs. Barring Moeen Ali and David Willey, who both scored runs in their 30s, none of the home team batsmen could struggle much.

“Very disappointing. I don’t think we played well enough to consider batting first as an option,” Butler said after the match.

Buttler, however, praised pacer Richard Gleason for making an incredible start. Gleeson finished with figures of 4-1-15-3, which included India’s top 3 including Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli.

Buttler also lauded Chris Jordan for being England’s standout bowler in the T20I series so far. After becoming the country’s leading wicket-taker in Southampton, Jordan took four wickets in the second game.

,[On Gleeson] A brilliant start got the guys out, albeit a disappointing result. CJ always bowls tough overs and is naturally under pressure for a long time. Most of the time the result is there, there is happiness for that,” he said.

The third and final T20 match of the series will take place on Sunday 10 July at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma won his 14th consecutive match as the Indian T20I captain.
