England defender Tyrone Mings slams Home Secretary Priti Patel; Accused him of ‘instigating the fire’ of casteism

England defender Tyrone Mings on Monday called United Kingdom Home Secretary Priti Patel a hypocrite after condemning racial attacks on Three Lions stars Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka. Mings also said he had “no right” to condemn these online attacks before accusing the Conservative minister of “extinguishing the fire” of racism. In his remarks, Mings referred to Patel’s previous statements, where he termed the England team’s decision to kneel in support of the Black Lives moment as a “political gesture”.

Rashford, Sancho and Saka have been victims of online racism after all three missed penalties UEFA European Championship 2020 Final against Italy

Following the racial attack on the Three Lions players, England left their youth behind as support was pouring in on social media.

On Monday, Patel also joined the bandwagon as he condemned the attack on the trio and termed the racial abuse as “disgusting”.

“I am disgusted that England players who have given so much to our country this summer have been subjected to racial abuse on social media. It has no place in our country and I support the police to hold the responsible people accountable.

Responding to his tweet, England’s Aston Villa centre-back Mings wrote, “You don’t get to set our anti-racism message on fire at the start of the tournament by labeling it as ‘gesture politics’ and when being very disgusting.” Let’s pretend what we are campaigning against, that is what happens.”

Earlier, Patel had said in an interview with GBN that he “did not support” the England stars kneeling before the match started. He had even said that it is up to him if fans boo players for kneeling during the England Euro 2020 campaign.

Meanwhile, England captain Harry Kane also came out in support of the England players and said that they do not want such supporters who abuse people on social media.

“Three boys who were talented all summer long had the courage to step up and take the pen when the stakes were high. They deserve support and support, not just the blatant racist abuse they’ve been subjected to since last night. If you abuse someone on social media you are not an England fan and we don’t want you,” he wrote.

On Sunday night, Italy defeated England (3-2) on penalties to be crowned European champions after the scoreboard read 1-1 the entire time.
