ENG Vs PAK 2nd T20: England Keep The Series Alive; beat Pakistan by 45 runs match summary

Headingley: England beat Pakistan by 45 runs in the second T20 International. The victory was for the English batsmen, especially Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone. England scored 200 runs in the first innings. Chasing the total target of 201, Pakistan scored 155 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

The series is now tied at 1-1 and one T20 match is still to be played. The last T20 match will be played in Manchester on 20 July.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar criticized the decision to bowl first on a batting-friendly wicket. Pakistan got off to a good start and picked up two early wickets. England’s batsmen, especially Joss Butter and Moeen Ali, did not let the run rate down even after losing two quick wickets. Later, Livingstone also played a few shots to give England a total of 200 runs.

Pakistan got off to a good start when it came to bat but the trio of Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Saqib Mahmood did the trick and didn’t let the Pakistan batsmen settle down. He kept on taking wickets. The first breakthrough was provided by the new discoverer of England, Saqib Mahmud. Later on, the spin bowlers managed to pick up the all-important wickets. Rashid and Ali took 4 wickets between them.

Shadab Khan played a few shots towards the end but it was too late from Pakistan’s point of view.

All eyes will be on the next match to be played on 20 July 2021.
