ENG vs NZ: All-rounder Michael Bracewell, 2 support staff in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19

New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell has tested positive for COVID-19 a day after the conclusion of the second Test against England, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirmed this on Wednesday.

Bracewell did a rapid antigen test (RAT) the morning after waking up with symptoms. They will need five days of isolation before rejoining the group.

The all-rounder recently made his Test debut against England in the second Test at Trent Bridge, scoring 49 and 25 runs in both innings, while returning figures of 3/62 and 0/60 with his off-breaks. Which included taking the wicket of the opposition captain Ben. Stokes in the first innings.

Upon arrival in London, team physio Vijay Vallabh and strength and conditioning coach Chris Donaldson also tested positive for COVID-19 and will begin five days of isolation.

No one from the Tour party at this stage. No other member has tested positive,” the Blackcaps said in a tweet.

Blair Tickner and Dane Cleaver were previously called into the team as replacements for Kyle Jamieson and Cam Fletcher, but no new replacements have been named for Bracewell.

Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has rejoined the team after recovering from COVID-19 and completing his isolation. The team will have a few days off before heading to Leeds on Sunday to prepare for the third and final Test starting Thursday.
