The England vs New Zealand final test match saw an interesting dismissal that left many in the crowd as well as the English cricketers upset. The incident happened when Henry Nicholls tried to kill Jack Leach outside the park. The Kiwi batsman got off the track and connected well. However, Daryl Mitchell, who was at the other end, saw the ball coming straight at him and was forced to defer. While doing so the ball came off his bat which was in the trajectory of the ball. Had Mitchell been a fraction faster, he would have been four. Instead, it hit his bat and ricocheted off a nearby fielder, who completed a simple catch.

Stuart Broad led England’s attack in the absence of James Anderson, before New Zealand lost Henry Nicholls in bizarre fashion on the opening day of the third Test at Headingley. New Zealand posted 123 for five at tea, with Broad removing Tom Latham before grabbing the crucial wicket of New Zealand captain Kane Williamson in the first over of the match.
At the stroke of tea, Nicholls, who scored 19 off 99 balls, hit left-arm spinner Jack Leach. The ball took off from non-striker Daryl Mitchell’s bat and then gently looped Alex Lee at mid-off for an unfortunate out.
Mitchell has already scored two centuries in the three-match series with an unbeaten 25 as England took an unassailable 2-0 lead. Although he was dismissed for eight, England decided against reviewing Matthew Potts’ rejected lbw appeal.

The hosts were looking to register three out of three wins under their captain Ben Stokes and Test coach Brendon McCullum, a former New Zealand captain. They were without Anderson, their all-time leading Test wicket-taker, due to an ankle injury.
