England vs Australia Ashes 2023: Star England batsman Harry Brook was dismissed in an utterly unusual way as England locked horns with Australia in the first Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The English team displayed their usual ‘bassball’ in the first session of the first day, scoring 124 runs in 27 overs. Meanwhile, the lunch break featured a bizarre dismissal of middle-order batsman Brook. Coming into the second session of play, the 24-year-old Brook was quick off the blocks as he smashed 25 off the first 21 balls. Meanwhile, he hit just one boundary off Lyon and was dismissed by the great Aussies.
Lyon bowled one on good length in the 38th over and extracted extra bounce and spin. Brook showed no intent to play but the ball took a turn and hit his thigh pad. After that it sprang up and no one knew where it went. The ball then descended behind the batsman and in front of the stumps to roll back and disturb the wood.

Meanwhile, commentators were left unfazed by the dismissal. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting admitted that he had seen many dismissals but none like this one. Ponting said, ‘I have seen many types of dismissals, nothing like this.
Meanwhile, Brook had earlier started his match-up against Nathan Lyon, Speaking ahead of the high-octane series, Brook said he would respect Lyon’s good balls but would be wary of anything other than that. He said, ‘If he bowls well, I will give him respect. But other than that I’ll try to pick him up.
