Six terrorists were killed in separate encounters in Kulgam and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir. All of them were associated with the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. So far 4 terrorists have been identified, out of which 2 are Pakistani and 2 are local.

The two local terrorists killed have been identified as Nisar Ahmed Khande and Mufti Altaf. One M4 rifle and its 7 magazines, 2 AK series rifles and its 2 magazines, one pistol and its 2 magazines, 3 grenades and other incriminating material were recovered.

1 jawan martyr, 2 injured jawans and one policeman continue to be treated
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said that three army personnel and a policeman were injured in the firing. One jawan died during treatment. The name of the martyr jawan is Jasbir Singh. He hails from Tarn Taran district in Punjab. Army officials informed Jasbir’s family about his demise this morning.

‘The number of terrorists in Kashmir has come down to less than 200’

The number of local terrorists has also come down to less than 100 for the first time. After yesterday’s encounter only 85-86 local terrorists are left. He said that terrorism is not increasing, it is decreasing.

128 local youths joined militancy in 2021
He said that so far this year 128 local youths have joined militancy, out of which 73 terrorists have been killed in encounters and 16 terrorists have been arrested. Out of these, now around 39 terrorists are left.

IGP Kumar said that 24 terrorists have been killed in December, out of which 5 are Pakistanis. We have recovered 2 US-made M4 Carbine rifles, 15 AK47s, over 24 pistols, grenades, IEDs.
