Srinagar: An encounter broke out between militants and security forces on Sunday in the high altitude areas of Barote village of Rajouri district of Jammu division.
Reports said that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation of the area after receiving specific inputs about the presence of some terrorists.
As the joint team of forces moved towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces, following which an encounter broke out.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security forces.
